DATA

The aim of the PROMAP project was the collection, coding, analysis and cartographic representation of the protest claims in Greece during the period 1996-2014.

The project was implemented in collaboration with the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP) and the Institute of Information Systems (IIS) of the Athena Research Center. Data were extracted from two newspapers, “Kathimerini” and “Avgi” and analysed with advanced computational methods based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools and techniques. The Socioscope web application offers the user the opportunity to search for and reconstruct the forms of protest, the main actors, the exact content of the claims, and their spatial identity for the project reference period.

The language resources of PROMAP are available through the repository of the National Centre of Social Research in the national research infrastructure CLARIN-EL.
